Types of Henderson Braces

When people hear the word braces, they may cringe at the thought of having metal wires in their mouth. These days, there are many different types of Henderson braces available.

There are a number of reasons people choose to get braces, such as:

  • Underbite (where lower teeth sit in front of upper teeth)
  • Spacing problems between your teeth
  • Overbite (where upper teeth sit far in front of lower teeth)
  • Crowding of teeth; will also help to avoid having to remove any teeth
  • Avoiding oral surgery in younger children
  • Wanting straighter teeth for an aesthetically pleasing appearance

Metal Braces

  • Although they are the most noticeable, metal brackets are smaller than before, so they are not as noticeable.
  • “Archwires” have been developed, which uses body heat to help move teeth faster.
  • Metal braces are the least expensive of all of your options.
  • Colorful rubber bands can give children the option of how their braces look.
  • Your dentist will probably advise you to avoid sticky foods, as they can get caught up in the wires and may possibly break.

Ceramic Braces

  • Ceramic braces are similar to metal braces but have tooth colored brackets instead of metal brackets. They also have metal wires connecting the different colored brackets.
  • They are often less noticeable than metal braces.
  • Ceramic braces can move and align teeth faster than plastic aligners.
  • They can easily break or chip as they are made of ceramic.

Lingual Braces

  • Lingual braces are metal brackets placed on the inside of your teeth.
  • These types of braces cannot be seen by other people because they are not visible on the outside of your teeth.
  • These types of Henderson braces can be more expensive than traditional braces.
  • They may take a bit longer to get comfortable with and also may take longer to straighten teeth.
  • Lingual braces may be more difficult to clean.
  • They can also only be applied by a skilled orthodontist. Some orthodontists are not familiar with this type of procedure.

Invisible Braces (Invisalign®)

  • Invisible braces can be clear mouth guards, such as Invisalign®. They are almost impossible to see, as they are invisible.
  • Invisalign® is a custom made mouth guard.
  • They are intended for people who do not have severe teeth issues.
  • They have the ability to be removed whenever the patient wants, but it is relied upon the patient to ensure they are worn for no less than 20 hours a day.
  • They are only made for adults and need to be taken care of because braces like the mouth guards can be easily lost.
  • Invisalign® mouth guards are also meant to be replaced every two weeks, so they can be a lot pricier than other alternatives.

Some dental insurance providers can cover partial costs for kids or teens under the age of 18 but typically will not cover anyone over this age. Check with your dental insurance provider to see what they can do. Some clinics can also offer supplemental insurance to help assist in the payment of braces. In some cases, if medically necessary, Medicaid can also cover partial costs for braces (for patients ages 21 and under).

Testimonials

★★★★★ In my opinion, Mint Dental & Orthodontics is one of the best Dentist Practices in Las Vegas. Dr. Dennis Clark and his staff are the best. They treat you like family and have a genuine interest in your wellbeing. I used to hate going to the dentist because of feeling like I was just another patient. All of which, went away when I scheduled my first appointment with Dr. Dennis Clark.

★★★★★ I came to Mint Dental & Orthodontics fleeing from my previous dentist, and it was the best decision. Dr. Dennis Clark was very professional and caring and listened to my concerns that were not taken into account at my previous doctor. The office was very clean and orderly and the staff was very friendly and knowledgeable and you can tell they take not only dental hygiene seriously but cleanliness in general as a big priority.
