Henderson Dental Bonding

Sometimes regular oral hygiene such as brushing and flossing simply isn't sufficient enough to keep teeth in healthy condition. Teeth may end up chipped, broken, discoloured and sometimes grow with gaps between them or teeth can fall out earlier than we would like. Henderson Dental bonding is a non-invasive way of improving the appearance of teeth. The effects are more than just cosmetic, as a more attractive smile has been known to improve a person’s self-esteem.

Dental bonding is similar to veneers insofar as it involves adding something to the surface of a tooth – in this case a composite resin (plastic). Where veneers are manufactured from a mould of each tooth, composite dental bonding uses generic resins suitable for use. Consequently, dental bonding is one of the most economical ways of improving the appearance of one's teeth.

When is it used?

Dental bonding can be used as treatment for many oral issues. It can be used upon a single tooth, many teeth or a full set of teeth to improve the appearance of the whole smile in the following ways:

The dentist will select a colour most similar to the surrounding teeth to ensure the bonded tooth blends in. Resins can be applied to cover up discoloured teeth.

Resins can be applied to fill cracks.

Where there exists gaps in the mouth, as a result of missing teeth or unusual growth patterns, Henderson dental bonding can make the teeth look uniform.

How does it work?

The plastic resins come in various tooth colours. The dentist chooses the most suitable colour for the patient and applies the material to the tooth, moulding it as required. To bond to the tooth underneath and/or the surrounding teeth a blue ultra-violet light is used to instigate the bonding reaction. As the material hardens, the dentist will work on improving the aesthetics. The bonding material can be trimmed, polished and smoothed until it blends in with the full set of teeth.

What are the risks?

Dental bonding carries a few risks. Things to note include:

Tee, coffee, tobacco and other things which usually stain teeth will also stain the resin material, especially in the first 48 hours after application.

Composite resins are not as strong as teeth. Things you might do without thinking, such as chewing pens, hard candies and ice ought to be avoided.

The resin material, once bonded can last anywhere from just a few years up to fifteen years – results can vary but with good aftercare, can be a good semi-permanent solution.

Always ask to see previous examples of your dentists work to ensure that they take diligent care when moulding and fitting the bonds.

As one of the quickest, most durable and cost-effective cosmetic dentistry procedures, dental bonding is a reliable choice for those looking to quickly improve the appearance of their smile, and quite often with it, their confidence.

★★★★★ In my opinion, Mint Dental & Orthodontics is one of the best Dentist Practices in Las Vegas. Dr. Dennis Clark and his staff are the best. They treat you like family and have a genuine interest in your wellbeing. I used to hate going to the dentist because of feeling like I was just another patient. All of which, went away when I scheduled my first appointment with Dr. Dennis Clark.
